A journey around the globe following clouds

When birds travel towards warmer areas of the globe in the winter, they often follow planetary scale wind systems (also referred to as Jet-streams). These wind patterns leave their footprint in clouds above the North Atlantic. Clouds can form in all shapes and under different scenarios. We will begin to answer a series of questions through small laboratory experiments, working on weather maps, looking at satellite images & recordings of clouds:

• What is the jet-stream?

• How do clouds form in the afternoon?

• Can mountains hold on to clouds?
